Deerfield Retreat began with a simple idea: to create somewhere people could truly switch off — no screens, no rush, just the quiet luxury of the countryside. Set across private wildflower meadows in the village of Cottered, near Buntingford, we've brought together beautiful canvas tents, cosy shepherd's huts and a wood-fired spa to make that possible.
Everything here is designed to help you exhale. The beds are dressed in soft linen, the hampers are stocked with local treats, and the fire pits are ready for long, slow evenings. Whether you come as a couple, a family or a whole gathering of friends, you'll find space to be together — and space to be still.
We're blessed with direct access to a network of walking routes along Roman roads, bridleways and cycle tracks — perfect for a morning ramble or a day in the saddle. The rolling farmland, ancient woodland and big open skies make every season worth visiting.
And yet we're only about an hour from London, making Deerfield an easy escape when you need one most.
